Yoga unites the mind, body, and breath, in a way that eases tension, reduces stress, and promotes health and well being. Regular practice will help you improve your poses, correct poor posture, and can brighten your outlook on life.
Yoga is a great way to improve your endurance in other physical activities. After a run, or heavy workout, yoga will help your body relax while stretching, strengthening, and lengthening the muscles you were just working on.

Yoga not only helps improve your body, but also helps with mindfulness and is often referred to as meditation in motion. It is important to take a break from daily life in order to focus on yourself and get clarity. The focus you apply to your breath during practice is key to staying in tune with your mind and body.
Yoga for EveryBody (Y4EB) classes are a wonderful opportunity to explore your mind/body/breath connection. Asanas (yoga postures/poses) are done with a level of awareness to help take you to the place of alignment specific to what your body needs. With a strong foundation and proper alignment as a result of your yoga practice, you will discover renewed calmness, strength, balance, focus and flexibility!
Ken teaches what he likes to call ATD Yoga (Attention To Detail). This is a hatha yoga practice incorporating his studies from various styles of yoga, including: Iyengar, Viniyoga, and Vinyasa. Alignment for each asana is offered in a manner that ensures you harvest the greatest benefits from your yoga practice. Most asanas are held for 3-6 soft centering breaths. At other times a slow flow connects the asanas. We are always deepening our practice from the inside out with a fluid breath.
Y4EB classes consist of students at "all levels" of their yoga practice, and for that reason asanas are taught in stages. Each stage takes students further into their practice. You decide which stage is best suited for your ability. You are always encouraged to explore the next stage, but if you feel like your pose is "falling apart", it is recommended you return to the stage that offers you the optimum benefit. When you find that place in your yoga practice, like Goldilocks, you might just say to yourself, "This feels just right". :-)
Our yoga room is kept at a nice 70-72 degrees. Ambient light fills the room and the only sounds are your instructor's voice and your internal breath. Class sizes are limited so you will always have ample space between yoga mats.
Many students arrive 15-20 minutes before class to visit and interact, often spending another 10-15 minutes chatting in the parking lot after class. You may just find yourself with a few new extended family members.
